The Mentoring Children of Military Families Initiative is a program designed to support children from military families who face unique challenges due to deployment, injury, or loss of a parent during active military service. Many military families in the greater Washington area experience significant stress as they strive to serve their country while also helping their children succeed academically, emotionally, and socially. Through this initiative, BBBSNCA pairs these children, known as “Littles,” with caring mentors, or “Bigs,” to provide enduring and meaningful relationships that offer support and guidance.

Given the large presence of military installations in the greater Washington area, including those of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, BBBSNCA recognizes the importance of supporting military families and their children. By prioritizing children from military families, BBBSNCA actively seeks to establish partnerships with military bases and schools serving these communities. Through these partnerships, BBBSNCA aims to enhance the support and resources available to children facing the unique challenges of military life, ensuring they have the guidance and encouragement needed to succeed.
