BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL AREA EARNS 2026 NATIONAL IMPACT AWARD FOR THE FIFTH TIME

The agency is recognized for outstanding leadership in providing 1-to-1 mentoring programs for local youth.

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 2026 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area (BBBSNCA) is proud to receive the 2026 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) Impact Award, marking the fifth time the organization has earned this national recognition.

The Impact Award recognizes agencies that demonstrate exceptional growth, program excellence, and outstanding success in match quality and retention—ensuring that mentoring relationships between volunteer mentors (“Bigs”) and young people (“Littles”) continue to create meaningful, lasting impact year after year.

Selected by the BBBSA Nationwide Leadership Council, BBBSNCA is one of only 20 national agencies to receive the 2026 Impact Award. The award was presented at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s 2026 National Conference in Atlanta, where agencies nationwide gathered to celebrate the power of mentorship and the impact that is possible when communities come together on behalf of young people.

Under this year’s theme, “Big Dreams. Bigger Vision,” the conference highlighted inspiring conversations, shared learning, and a collective commitment to helping more youth realize their full potential.

“Receiving this award for the fifth time is an incredible honor and a testament to the strength of our community,” said Michael Sanzi, President and CEO of BBBSNCA. “This recognition reflects the commitment of our staff, mentors, supporters, board members, and community partners who invest in the potential of young people every day. Together, we are creating life-changing relationships that help youth build confidence, pursue their dreams, and realize their full potential.”
