Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area Receives 2025 National Impact Award

The agency is recognized for outstanding team leadership in providing 1-to-1 mentoring programming for local youth.

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 2026 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area (BBBSNCA) is proud to receive the 2025 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) Impact Award – marking the fourth year in a row the organization has earned this national recognition.

Each year, the BBBSA Nationwide Leadership Council made up of local agency leaders and board members, selects top-performing agencies for excellence in the organization’s signature 1-to-1 youth mentoring program. Out of more than 230 agencies across the country, BBBSNCA is once again among 20 organizations to receive this top honor.

The Impact Award recognizes agencies that have demonstrated exceptional match quality and retention – ensuring that number of mentors (“Bigs”) and youth (“Littles”) matched through the program continue to positively shape the lives of young people year over year.

“Receiving this award for the fourth consecutive year speaks to the heart of our community,” said Michael Sanzi, President and CEO of BBBSNCA. “It’s a reflection of the mentors who show up, the young people who trust the process, and the collective commitment we share to helping every child reach their full potential.”

For more than 100 years, BBBSA has been dedicated to advancing equity, impact, and growth across the organization, making a lasting impact on the lives of young people. Today, the organization creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships, helping build self-confidence and emotional well-being and empowering young people on a path to graduate with a plan for their futures and a mentor whose impact can last a lifetime.

“Building meaningful connections through mentorship is at the core of our mission, and BBBSNCA brings this to life by cultivating strong, lasting relationships between Bigs and Littles,” said Artis Stevens, President and CEO of BBBSA. “Their dedication is reflected in exceptional match retention, ensuring young people benefit from the steady support and guidance they need to grow and succeed. By prioritizing consistency and deep connections, they are making a lasting difference in the lives of youth. We are proud to recognize their leadership and commitment to creating mentorship experiences that truly make a difference.”
