Michael J. Sanzi

Michael J. Sanzi is a native of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Michael Sanzi brings a diverse track record of business development, fundraising and strategic operations management experience to the table, spanning over 25 years in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. In the late 1980’s after graduating from high school, Mike immediately began working as the fourth generation in his family’s companies, which provided government funded post-secondary education and consumer-based services at multiple locations throughout the state.

Mike’s acumen for business management began early as he helped to grow the companies through extensive marketing, PR, business-to-business and business-to-consumer initiatives. Along with successful revenue sourcing, Mike took a lead role in all facets of daily operations that included compliance with highly complex and rigorous accreditation and government agency regulations.

Upon relocating to the Washington, DC area in the mid 1990’s, Mike continued his career in business development by serving in senior-level roles with various non- and for-profit organizations, including the National Italian American Foundation, ITIC Corporation, Media Research Center and the ALS Association.  Effective January, 2015, Mike has been selected as the new President & CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters for the National Capital Area.

Mike has earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Management, graduating with honors, from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and in 2014, began work on his Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Catholic University of America in Washington. Mike lives in suburban Maryland with his wife Cheri and two college age children, Ryan and Shannon.
