Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area’s Big Sister Kleo Torres Wins Miss D.C. USA

WASHINGTON, D.C., Jun 29, 2024—Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area (BBBSNCA) is proud to spotlight Big Sister Kleo Torres, who recently won the Miss D.C. USA title! As a dedicated mentor and advocate for children, Kleo exemplifies the organization’s mission to defend and ignite the potential of youth.  

The Power of Mentorship  

As the child of incarcerated parents, Kleo has experienced firsthand the challenges that many of our Littles face today. Inspired to make a difference, she joined Big Brothers of the National Capital Area (BBSNCA) in March 2024. Through the organization’s careful matching process, Kleo was paired with Taniyah, a young girl who had overcome significant adversity. Kleo’s consistent and confident demeanor offered the perfect complement to Taniyah’s needs.  

Together, Kleo and her little sister have shared countless experiences. Over the past four months, they’ve attended baseball games, gone on outings, and collaborated on their shared interest in entrepreneurship. The bond they’ve formed is a testament to the power of mentorship and the positive impact it can have on a child’s life.
